About how I started following plant based eating and restarting my journey

I started my plant based diet after my 47 year old brother-in-law passed away due to a complications related with a sudden heart attach. He had no prior heart conditions or symptoms. He did not get a second chance. My devastated husband discovered Dr Essie to keep his and family member's heart healthy. Dr Essie introduced him to the whole food plant based diet. He watched Forks over Knives, Game changers and the works. I cooked WFPB compliant meals for him. In 3 months he had lost 24 pounds and looked great and healthy. When my husband originally told me about this diet, I had dismissed it. It seemed very difficult to follow. I was overweight at that time at 182 pounds and 5'3" frame. I was looking to get rid of my stubborn fat. Seeing him loose 15 pounds effortlessly made me jump on the diet.

I lost 30 pounds in 9 months and went all the way down to 152 pounds. During this time, I avoided any unhealthy and healthy fatty food including avocados, nuts and nut butters. I ate just brown rice, vegetables, fruits, lentils and legumes. No processed food. No pureed food or juice. All whole food. The only bread we consumed was the Ezekiel sprouted grain bread that you find only in the frozen section as it is live food.

Then my in-laws visited me. So we made slight alterations to our strict diet and consumed more grains. This caused me to gain 5 Pounds. I ended at 157. Next came a vacation to India. When I was at my parent's house and in-law's house, I was able to follow my diet. However, when I visited my relatives, I gave in and ate what everyone ate. I went from 157 Pounds to 162 Pounds. A few months after that, I had to take medication for a health condition. This medication made me gain weight. I went from 162 Pounds to 166 Pounds. Then, I started making exceptions and having cheat days. I started slipping. As of now, I stand at 170 Pounds.

I am worried that I may slowly inch towards 182 if I do not pay attention. So here I am tightening the strings again and getting back to my WFPB SOS free diet. I decided to log my food every day through blogs so that I can track my food consumption. I will post a picture of all the food that goes through my mouth but for water and green tea. I will also log my walking, yoga and breathing each day. In addition, at the end of the day, I will write about my overall mood for that day.

Weight check-in will happen once a week on every Wednesday. I started my journey on March 7th. Howeover I will start blogging from March 8th, 2023, Women's day. I have an accountability partner who I met on Chef AJ's feel fabulous over forty membership plan.
